Macanese F3 driver Rodolfo Avila has completed a successful test session with the HBR Motorsport team as part of his Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix race preparation.

After some ups and downs during the International Formula Master first season Rodolfo Avila returned to the F3 cockpit last weekend in the Czech track of Brno. It was the last chance for Avila to drive the Dallara F307-Mercedes Benz before the prestigious end of the year race.

This year marks the Silver Anniversary of the Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix. Over the years the event has nurtured numerous world class racing drivers, focusing the attention of the international media on Macau and its Grand Prix. Today the Macau Grand Prix continues to develop with the Formula 3 Grand Prix, the FIA World Touring Car Championship, the Motorcycle Grand Prix and other races bringing fans of the different motorsport categories to Macau to see the races, as well as attracting television viewers across the globe. The Grand Prix of Macau is from 15-18 November 2007.

The 54th Macau Grand Prix was launched today at Macau; the event will include the FIA World Touring Car Championship’s final meeting as well as the 25th edition of the FIA Formula 3 Intercontinental Cup and the 41st Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Motor World Macau, a luxury and super-car show, will be held from 16 -18 November 2007 at the recently opened Venetian Macao Convention & Exhibition Centre. The show will take place simultaneously with the 54th Macau Grand Prix. Over 20 prestigious vehicle brands have already confirmed their participation and together these brands will showcase more than 70 vehicles at the event’s debut.
Motor World Macau will feature high performance vehicles including luxury sports utility cars, super cars and professional racing cars. Many of the leading brands including Alfa Romeo, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Bugatti, Citroen, Daihatsu, Ferrari, Ford, Jaguar, Lexus, Maserati, Maybach, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini Cooper, Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen, have confirmed to exhibit at the fair. Motor sports events and services, racing clubs and teams, motor products as well as motor education and training are also among the exhibit scope. The show is open to the public all three days.

The United States beat Cuba by 3-2 here on Saturday at the women’s volleyball Grand Prix Macao leg.
The U.S. team, headed by the Chinese volleyball legend Lang Ping, came across a scary moment in the first set when the Cubans displayed the matching powerful net skills and the even more stable defense to win the set 25-18.

Hot on yesterdays news, that our Macau Motorsport race ambassador Rodolfo Avila has left British Formula 3 Championship, it’s now confirmed that he is to compete in the inaugural International Formula Master (IFM) season with Italian top team Cram Competition.
Rodolfo Avila is at his peak of motivation and he is ready to take the challenge of another tough season in European motorsport. “I am really looking forward the season start. The championship package is quite good and the cars looks very aerodynamic and professional. The track tests proved it is faster than a F3. We are going to compete within all the 2007 European rounds of the FIA World Touring Car Championship and will get live TV coverage of all the races at the same top audience time each race weekend at Eurosport. This is very important for my sponsors”, states Asian Formula Renault 2003 Champion.

Rodolfo Avila ceases the corporation with Performance Racing
Rodolfo Avila’s Management Team announces that Macanese F3 driver Rodolfo Avila will not continue to race for Performance Racing Europe in the British F3 Championship 2007.
Although the confidence in the team was extremely good last season, the chemistry between team and driver has recently been missing, following the departure of some key team members, like Mike Baker (Commercial Director/Team Manager), Alan Langridge (Chief Engineer) and Russell Eeles (Chief Mechanic).

The number of visitors to the Macau Grand Prix Museum saw a 22 percent increase in 2006, with individual travelers gaining more weight compared to those brought by travel agencies to see one of the city’s main drawcards.
Isaac Lai’s family is of the size of an authentic tour group, but the Hong Kong resident prides himself as the organizer of the tour that brought to Macau during Spring Festival almost twenty of his family members, from three generations.

AirAsia will from 26 December 2006, start its third daily flight to Macau from the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) in Kuala Lumpur.
AirAsia will be using Airbus A320s for the Kuala Lumpur-Macau route, this means that compared with the soon to be phased out Boeing 737s, they will have an additional 32 seats. AirAsia will phase out the Boeing 737 aircraft to replace them with a new Airbus A320 fleet.
