The curse of the fat finger has struck one of China’s most secretive commercial dynasties as an e-mail between top executives of Shun Tak Corporation has erroneously revealed plans for developing one of the last pieces of the lucrative waterfront in Macau.
The property, in one of the world’s hottest gambling destinations, is worth about $500 million.

The Macau government is waiting for approval from the central government in Beijing to begin works on the reclamation land projects which are expected to total an area of around five square kilometers.
The secretary for transport and public works, Lau Si Io, said the project plan is based on that of 2006, which the local government handed to the central government for appraisal and approval, which has now entered the final stage.

The investment immigration scheme through buying properties in Macau will not be resumed at least for the next two years, according to government sources.
The Jornal Va Kio reported that the Government has no intention to review the decision, announced by the Chief Executive Ho Hau Wah during the Legislative Assembly’s question time on 3 April 2007, but it does not mean that such scheme has been terminated on a permanent basis.

As we mentioned earlier back in November 2007, Oceanus Casino Project Getting Ready to Kick Off >>, we just received a snippet of news that the interim New Yaohan department store will be opening in May 2008 on the Lot One site in Nam Van Lake opposite to the old Judicial Court. The mall has a foot print of 1,900 square meters and will be a ten-storey mall.
So it looks like that the massive Oceanus Casino project can start the demolition works of the old New Yaohan store around June, and also prepare for the imminent close down and demolition of the Darling Massage Parlour and the Jai Alai Casino buildings.

As reported by Blog Macau Info, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge project may take 36-and-a-half years to break even, admitted the Governor of Guangdong Province.
Huang Huahua said in Beijing as a deputy to the National People’s Congress (NPC) that is currently being convened that the construction cost of the bridge may reach US$5.62 billion, while the ports and connection facilities will be assumed by the authorities of the three territories respectively.

Currently in Macau there a total of 23 hotel projects under construction and another 23 waiting for approval around the city. Statistical data indicates that the 23 hotels under construction are expected to provide about 24,000 guestrooms. Of these there are seven medium-sized hotel projects with the number of rooms ranging from 100 to 600, six large hotel projects with rooms ranging from 600 to 2000, and one super project with approximately 10,000 guestrooms. Most of the large hotel projects such as the Four Seasons Hotel at TYhe Cotai Strip, focus on the Cotai Strip area.
For the 23 projects waiting for approval, not including eight for which there is no detailed data, the remaining projects will provide a total of about 14,000 guestrooms which includes 12 hotel projects with 300 to 600 guestrooms, and two grand hotels with 3,000 to 4,000 rooms.

The governments of Hong Kong, Guangdong, and Macau yesterday endorsed the financing scheme for bridges linking the three places and the massive project will soon proceed to public tenders. Macau’s casino magnate Dr Stanley Ho has said that he is interested in bidding for the project.
It is expected a number of state- owned enterprises will play a major role in building the bridges expected to cost between US$4-5 billion. The Hong Kong listed China Communication Construction Company and China Railway have a long history in building infrastructure projects in the mainland, Hong Kong and overseas.
