Eager to capitalize on the Chinese love of gambling, American-operated casinos such as the Venetian, Wynn and MGM Grand, have opened outposts here in recent months, helping to speed the transformation of this city into the Las Vegas of the Far East, right down to the indoor canals and singing gondoliers at the $2.4 billion Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.

Again Macau breaks new records with the arrival of about 779,000 vistors during the Christmas holidays, with at least thirty thousand Hong Kong people congesting the entry ways of Macau as most of them began their Christmas holidays on Tuesday.
Information from the Chinese language Macau Daily newspaper showed that the number of arrivals reached 55,000 as of 5 p.m. Tuesday. Among the arrivals, there were 20,000 Hong Kong tourists arriving in Macau via the ferry terminal, and 25,000 Mainland tourists of which 20,000 came in via the border gate.

Under the watchful eyes of BMW motorsport director Dr Mario Theissen, Andy Priaulx clinched his third consecutive FIA World Touring Car Championship title in great style with victory in the second race at Macau on Sunday.

Priaulx got away well from pole position, but it was title rival James Thompson who made the best start from third as he stormed his way past Nicola Larini and moved up to second.

Today again was a glorious day of racing with perfect weather for the Grand Prix of Macau. Again we were with our local Macanese hero Rodolfo Avila today, who was very optimistic and having high hopes of gaining a much better grid position for tomorrows Formula Three Macau Grand Prix.

What an exciting day, today was! We finally arrived at Grand Prix of Macau where we were the guests of Rodolfo Avila and the HBR racing team.
