February 4, 2008We are pleased to announce that Mr Francis Lui, Deputy Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), is confirmed to give the keynote address at AiG this year. Mr Lui has a unique vision for GEG and attributes the company’s success to the fact that it is owned and operated by Chinese and has a thorough background in hotel management and real estate development. The year-old StarWorld Hotel & Casino in Macau is testament to that.
But what about the group’s online ambitions? How does he see the future for land-based casinos getting into the online space? And what of the outlook for Asia?

January 17, 2008Reports from the First Annual Macau Jewelry and Watch Fair were mixed as the show came to a close, but most agreed the show did not live up to the expectations of the participants who made the long trip.
The inaugural show was held in the Venetian Macao’s convention centre, attracting buyers from mainland China. Rising diamond demand in the Far East brought traders with high expectations.
January 11, 2008Yesterday’s grand opening of the Macau International Jewellery and Watch Fair on the Cotai Strip was invaded by two purported buyers who allegedly swapped a genuine three-carat diamond with a replica.
The stall holder soon realised the switch and called the Judiciary Police who arrested the pair.
January 10, 2008The first-ever Macau Jewellery and Watch Fair opened today, further proof that this former Portuguese colony is giving Las Vegas a run for its money.
Eager to capitalize on the Chinese love of gambling, American-operated casinos such as the Venetian, Wynn and MGM Grand, have opened outposts here in recent months, helping to speed the transformation of this city into the Las Vegas of the Far East, right down to the indoor canals and singing gondoliers at the $2.4 billion Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.
