Macau Grand Prix Museum Visitors Up 22%

The number of visitors to the Grand Prix Museum saw a 22 percent increase in 2006, with individual travelers gaining more weight compared to those brought by travel agencies to see one of the city’s main drawcards.

Macau To Host Expo Real Asia 2006

Too Many Hotel Rooms in Macau?

As I cannot comment on Las Vegas properties, I still think that the US casino operators are taking a huge risk with their properties. Reports that Las Vegas Sands and Wynn Resorts are expecting about plus 90% occupancy for their rooms is a little bit far fetched.

The reason for this is simple, let’s just take The Lisboa which has traditionally only has an average occupancy of 80-85% and who knows how many of those rooms are being used by the high rollers for free.

According to the president of the Institute for Promotion of Trade and Investment, Lee Peng Hong, the 2006 fair, which will take place between September 23 and 26, and will have the largest attendance since the fair began in 1996. They are expecting 133 delegates from 39 countries.

Las Vegas Sands to continue Expansion in Macau

As if the Strip is not enough Las Vegas Sands are now eyeing a couple of islands off to develop some non-casino resort projects. This is amazing as these islands are not particulary idyllic beach resorts. And of course the ferries that Sands suppose to be running. Well we have to wait and see, don’t we!

As reported by Las Vegas Business Press - As part of a $2 billion deal signed Oct. 14, 2005, Sands will create a 1,600 acre “convention hotel and holiday resort,” one that will include several million feet of convention space, a marina, golf courses, tennis courts and possibly an open-air opera house.

Fifty Portuguese to attend Macau International Fair

MacauHub - More than fifty Portuguese companies and business associations will be represented at the International Fair (MIF), due to take place from September 23 to 26,the representative of Portuguese export promotion agency ICEP in has said.

Manuel Geraldes told the Tribuna de newspaper that in order to receive the high number of companies, the Portuguese Pavilion at MIF would be twice the size it was in 2005.
