Hong Kong won’t build casinos to compete with neighbouring Macau, despite the challenge posed by the gambling mecca’s rapid transformation into a tourism and convention hub, Hong Kong’s leader said on Thursday.

“The answer is no,” said Chief Executive Donald Tsang when asked whether the city might construct its own casinos after a major push by some tourism operators and the pro-business Liberal party to build a casino resort.

Motor World Macau, a luxury and super-car show, will be held from 16 -18 November 2007 at the recently opened Venetian Macao Convention & Exhibition Centre. The show will take place simultaneously with the 54th Macau Grand Prix. Over 20 prestigious vehicle brands have already confirmed their participation and together these brands will showcase more than 70 vehicles at the event’s debut.

Motor World Macau will feature high performance vehicles including luxury sports utility cars, super cars and professional racing cars. Over 250 real estate, tourism, banking and finance specialist are due to meet at the 2nd Annual Investment forum to be held in Macau on April 26 and 27 to discuss the present and future of the Macau economy, the meeting’s organizers said.

“This year’s Forum will discuss the factors that will determine the future of Macau as an international investment center,” said Institutional Investor Conferences (IIC), the international organization responsible for the meeting.

Events taking place at the Wine Museum, organized by the Macau Government Tourist Office, the entity overseeing the museum, or by private initiatives, follow a special tradition. During these occasions, wine takes the center stage. The organizers of Global Gaming Expo Asia (G2E Asia) today announced a sold-out show floor and an 80 percent increase in exhibitor participation for the inaugural event over last year’s Asian Gaming Expo, which the G2E brand acquired in June 2006.
