May 31, 2008Las Vegas Sands Corp offered a peek on Thursday at a $150-million Cirque du Soleil show that will open at the Venetian Macau, the casino operator’s latest high-stakes bet that it can get visitors to the Asian city to do more than gamble.
The dreamy “Zaia” features dancers and acrobats depicting a story of a girl who ventures into outer space in Asia’s first permanent Cirque du Soleil installation. It has an initial contract of 10 years.

March 2, 2007As construction activity took place behind them, representatives from Las Vegas Sands Corp., Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and Shangri La Hotels and Resorts today celebrated the progress being made on the Cotai Strip(TM) in the People’s Republic of China Special Administrative Region of Macau.
The Cotai Strip, which is currently being developed by Las Vegas Sands Corp., is a master-planned development of resort casino properties on an area of reclaimed land between the islands of Taipa and Coloane in Macau. The Cotai Strip will be home to a wide array of shopping, dining, and entertainment options, as well as 20,000 rooms branded by some of the most prestigious names in the hotel industry.
