December 2, 2007Macau billionaire Stanley Ho paid a record $330,000 for a white truffle at a charity auction, beating competing bids from the U.K. artist Damien Hirst and Sheik Mansoor Bin Zayed al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi, the organizers said.

November 15, 2007Drivers from the Polytec Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix, the FIA World Touring Car Championship – Guia Race of Macau – Presented by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A., and riders from the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix – 41st Edition, took part in the annual Macau Grand Prix photo opportunity event at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf Boulevard this afternoon. Competing in what was initially an elimination competition soon became a time trial for the fastest team on a local Macanese pedicab.
Taking part from the touring car camp was two-time Champion Andy Priaulx teamed up with Gabriele Tarquini and Alain Menu to relay with fellow drivers Augusto Farfus, Macau veteran Tom Coronel and Nicola Larini. From the Formula 3 camp was Bruno Senna, Marko Asmer and Kazuya Oshima on the first relay, team with Rodolfo Avila, Brendon Hartley and Nicolas Hulkenberg on the second relay. Rounding out the event entry was six-time Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix winner Michael Rutter, with fellow riders Les Shand and 2003 winner John McGuinness. The second team consisted of Conor Cummins, Joao Fernandes and Supersport class racer Cameron Donald.

November 11, 2007For forty years, one man, Stanley Ho, enjoyed a monopoly to run mega casinos in Macau. That monopoly was brought to an end five years ago by the Chinese government.
The Macau authorities have since been anxious to clean up the industry and attract more sophisticated western operators. In the past, the casino industry was dogged by a very unsavoury reputation, was tainted by organised crime, the occasional shooting and gang warfare that the Portuguese colonisers seemed ill-equipped to handle.

October 26, 2007After been in hiding for a while, it looks like Winnie Ho is at it again!
The founder of the Moon Valley Foundation sues STDM again, this time over the transfer of ownership of its bank.
She argued that as more than 70% of the identity of the shareholders have not been verified since the shareholders’ register had been lost in 1993, and therefore should not proceed with any major decisions or transfer of important assets.

October 14, 2007This year marks the Silver Anniversary of the Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix. Over the years the event has nurtured numerous world class racing drivers, focusing the attention of the international media on Macau and its Grand Prix. Today the Macau Grand Prix continues to develop with the Formula 3 Grand Prix, the FIA World Touring Car Championship, the Motorcycle Grand Prix and other races bringing fans of the different motorsport categories to Macau to see the races, as well as attracting television viewers across the globe. The Grand Prix of Macau is from 15-18 November 2007.
The 54th Macau Grand Prix was launched today at Macau; the event will include the FIA World Touring Car Championship’s final meeting as well as the 25th edition of the FIA Formula 3 Intercontinental Cup and the 41st Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix.

August 13, 2007Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau-wah has held a stake in Stanley Ho Hung-sun’s casino empire for the past 15 years, a paper trail of corporate documents spanning nearly three decades has revealed.
The former banker, who has headed the Macau government since the 1999 handover, denies any current interest or involvement in Stanley Ho’s companies.
