Macau is fast overtaking its rival Hong Kong as the fastest-growing area for residential hotel and retail property prices.
One of the largest projects is the US$2.1 billion City of Dreams being built by Leighton Asia, China State and John Holland, on behalf of the Melco PBL development company - owned by Lawrence Ho’s Melco gambling company and James Packer’s Crown group.

Our thanks go out to Phyllis from Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 for sending us some great pictures of the hotel views and room. It is truly spectacular! She also mentioned that they will full support to the Ponte 16 Casino opening party on serving their guests for F&B as well as providing accommodation for them.

Groups of waiters serve each other in the never before used restaurant overlooking the silver waters escaping from the Pearl River, while downstairs a casino full of croupiers play pretend baccarat to the music of a rehearsing saxophonist and keyboard player. The Ponte 16 Casino Hotel in Macau is preparing for its February 1 curtain-call. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the workers are enjoying the only occasion they will be on the receiving end of the venue’s hospitality.

Be the first one to know on Macau Daily Blog! On our recent visit we had a brief look around, and were pleasantly surprised on how big this project really is! The Ponte 16 Casino will have a soft opening, together with Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 around the 30th of January just in time for the Chinese Year goldmine. The riverside promenade and shopping arcade should be ready by Mid 2008. The casino will have a Gaming Area of 270,000 sq ft, 8 VIP Rooms with 3 Gaming Tables each, 130 Gaming Tables and 300 Slot Machines.

We think the location is great, it is only a pleasant 10 minute walk to the Grand Lisboa, where actually you walk past the Senoda Square, you could if you wish even drop into Starbucks for a nice cup of coffee. From the Sands Macau we managed to get to Ponte 16 in about a 30 minute walk. The Macau Strip finally has come alive!
