Wynn Macau To Build Helicopter Pad

Written on January 17, 2007 by admin

There has been reports that Wynn Macau is planning to build a helicopter pad on top of their car park especially for the VIP guests. This is expected to be completed in town for the expected second phase opening in the third quarter of 2007.

We are surprised that Wynn Macau or even Sands Macau for that matter, did not build a helipad in the first place! They must have known about Stanley Ho’s monopoly, or maybe they thought they could do a deal with him. I am sure that that some of the high rollers flying Stanley’s choppers must have been enticed to go to his casino’s instead of Wynn Macau.

Wynn Macau has also been trying to get rights to operate it’s own helicopter services, but lost the bid to Stanley Ho’s Heli Express.

Wynn Macau did order two helicopters in October 2006. So now after losing the bid, this maybe the reason for building the helicopter pad for it’s high-rollers. Even if Wynn Macau gets the right to the new heliport at Pac On on Taipa, which is at least another year away, it still needs to carry the VIP’s by road to its casino.

They also need to sort out their 24-hour VIP services as there are landing restriction in Hong Kong where helicopters are not allowed are 11.00 pm.
