Macau Recieved Almost 2 Million Visitors in October

And an amazing story in continues, I hate to think what November 2006 will be as the Grand Prix of Macau Committee reported a record attendance!

And on top of this Immigration Department reported a huge increase in the number of visitors in the period 15th/19th November: 576,968 people, meaning a 149% increase compared to last year!

registered a monthly record of nearly 2 million visitors in October, a year-on-year increase of 19.6 percent, according to official statistics.

The Directorate of Statistics and Census Services (DSEC) said the spike in tourist numbers last month was due to public holidays in mainland China and Hong Kong, with increased visitor numbers of 10.3 percent and 36.7 percent respectively, and Chinese tourists accounting for 53.4 percent of the total figure.

From January to October 2006, nearly 18 million tourists came to , an increase of 15.9 percent in an annual comparison.

Of this total, nearly 8 million, or 54.6 percent, came from mainland China, over 13 percent up on last year, followed by visitors from Hong Kong and Taipei (Taiwan).
