Air Macau expanding lines to Europe

Comment - The on-going network expansion of Air Macau and other airlines into Macau will be crucial to the success of the current casino and mega resort projects happening right now. Visitors numbers have to double/triple at least to make these projects viable. This means travel to Macau must be by more convinient, that is by direct airtravel and not via Hong Kong and a ferry which can add 2-3 hours on the traveling time. Air Macau is talking about 2-3 years down the line to open lines with Europe, the question now is what about lines with the US!
Fei Hongjun, general manager of Air Macau, told local media that his company will complete their network coverage in Asia in the next two years and will open lines to Europe afterwards. Air Macao will use its fifth traffic rights in Macau and Thailand, and make Bangkok as its transfer station to Europe.
Fei said that they have already had contact with Boeing and Airbus, and plan to lease three planes for the lines to Europe.
Air Macau will choose Germany, Britain and France, the three European countries which have the biggest potential as its destinations to Europe. In the next year, it will gradually complete its European line plan and get prepared for the line expansion.
Air Macau’s business has increased by 15%-20% every year, and the rate reached 19.8% in the first 6 months this year. The company will expand their total fleet from current 19 to 40 in the next 10 years.(ChinaHospitalityNews)
