Venetian Macau Host World-Class Basketball Game

– (PRESS RELEASE) — Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) said today that the upcoming exhibition basketball game between the Chinese National Men’s Team and the National Basketball Association Development League’s Albuquerque Thunderbirds represents the first of many special events the company plans to host or sponsor in the Chinese enclave.

This weekend’s exhibition, which is being presented by The Venetian Resort Hotel, will take place Saturday, November 18 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Team China and the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, the Development League’s defending champions, will compete for the first-ever “ Strip Cup.” The game will be played at the Tashi Gymnasium in , Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.

“As a preamble to next year’s opening of The Venetian , this competition signifies a convergence of our two cultures and a spirit of friendship,” said William P. Weidner, president and chief operating officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. “With the opening of The Venetian ’s 15,000-seat arena on the Strip(TM) next year, will be well on its way to becoming North Asia’s premier destination, highlighted by exciting sporting events, popular touring shows, major concerts, and a variety of other special events.”

“This is truly an exciting time for us and on behalf of Las Vegas Sands Corp. and The Venetian , we thank everyone who has worked so hard to make this game possible,” said Mr. Weidner. “Basketball is a game in which both China and America excel and we are proud to be a part of such an extraordinary evening.”

Opening next summer, The Venetian will be one of the largest hotel-resorts in Asia. It will feature nearly 3,000 all-suite rooms, 1.2 million-square feet of meeting, convention and exhibition space, world-class in a 15,000-seat arena, and more than 350 premium retailers in a luxurious one million-square foot retail mall. The Venetian will also serve as the anchor of the Strip, a master-planned development of resort and casino properties inspired by the famous Las Vegas Strip.

The Strip will feature 19,000 hotel rooms operated by some of the most prestigious names in the hotel industry, including, Four Seasons, Sheraton, St. Regis, Shangri-La, Traders, Hilton, Conrad, Fairmont, and Raffles. Las Vegas Sands Corp. will own and construct each of the hotels as well as operate the casinos and venues in each hotel. Mr. Weidner added that the creation of this event would not have been possible without the efforts of the Chinese Basketball Association, Infront Sports & Media, NBA, the Sport Development Board, Basketball Association, the Government of the People’s Republic of China, and the SAR Government.
