Macau Residents Protest Against Foreign Workers
Written on December 21, 2006 by admin
Around seven hundred people have marched to the central government offices in Macau - calling for a halt to the importation of labour and better pay and public services. The protestors consisted of trade unionists, members of the pan-democratic camp and right of abode seekers.
They were angry that the influx of foreign workers to Macau was making it difficult for local people to find jobs. The march was timed to coincide with the seventh anniversary of Macau’s handover.
