Last Saturday, the Macao International Trade and Investment Fair was openend by Macau’s Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah.
In his speech at the annual conference for overseas Chinese business people, Mr. Ho said that there is more to Macau than gambling and that tourism, conferences and exhibitions will become more important for Macau’s future’s economic growth as competition will increase in the gaming industry.
Mr. Ho believes that Macau will become a regional and also can become an international conference and exhibition center. He told the conference that one must also look at investment opportunities, other than the gaming industry in Macau.
The fair, sponsored by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (MTIPI), is a venue for over 30 seminars, conferences and product promotion programs.
It features 336 exhibition booths and pre-arranged 380 “business matchings” for the participants to engage in business talks.
