Macau Gaming Receipts Up By Whopping 46%

Total Receipts of the Macau Gaming Sector amounted to MOP85.21 billion (US$10.65 billion) in 2007, a notable increase of 46% year-on-year. Total Expenditure increased by 46% to MOP 44.66 billion (US$5.58 billion).

Gross Value Added, a measure of the sectoral contribution to the economy, surged significantly by 52% over 2006 to MOP 51.27 billion (US$6.4 billion); Gross Fixed Capital Formation soared by 120% to MOP 7.90 billion (US$987 million) on account of the addition of new gaming and tourism facilities.

Total Receipts of the Macao Gaming Sector reached MOP 85.21 billion (US$10.65 billion) in 2007, with the receipts from Gaming and Related Services amounting to MOP 84.98 billion (99.7% of the total) (US$10.57 billion), an increase of 46% compared with 2006. Interest Receipts totaled MOP 235 million (US$29.4 million).

Total Expenditure amounted to MOP 44.66 billion (US$5.82 billion), with Purchase of Goods and Commission Paid rising by 40% over 2006 to MOP 23.94 billion (54% of the total) (US$2.99 billion). In addition, Operating Expenses (MOP 9.77 billion) (US$1.22 billion) and Compensation of Employees (MOP 8.72 billion) (US$1.09 billion) went up notably by 35% and 75% compared with 2006.
