Las Vegas Sands to continue Expansion in Macau

As if the Cotai Strip is not enough Las Vegas Sands are now eyeing a couple of islands off Macau to develop some non-casino resort projects. This is amazing as these islands are not particulary idyllic beach resorts. And of course the ferries that Sands suppose to be running. Well we have to wait and see, don’t we!
As reported by Las Vegas Business Press - As part of a $2 billion deal signed Oct. 14, 2005, Sands will create a 1,600 acre “convention hotel and holiday resort,” one that will include several million feet of convention space, a marina, golf courses, tennis courts and possibly an open-air opera house.
Sands is still sifting through six design proposals and negotiating with three governmental entities, “so who knows if the opera house makes the cut,” said company spokesman Ron Reese. Negotiations for Shangchuan Island have not advanced nearly so far yet, and company officials are uncomfortable discussing that project.
