Macau January 2007 Vistors Up by 22.7%

Visitor arrivals totalled 2,038,768 in January 2007, representing a notable increase of 22.7% year-on-year. Visitors from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, China grew 24.6%, 14.2% and 12.3% respectively. Meanwhile, same-day visitors accounted for 51.8% of the total arrivals, at 1,055,253.
The majority of the visitors came from Mainland China (56.7% of the total), Hong Kong (29.6%) and Taiwan, China (5.1%). Among the Mainland visitors, 48.9% travelled to Macao under the Individual Visit Scheme, at 565,587.
Analyzed by mode of transport, visitor arrivals by sea went up 7.1% year-on-year to 655,279 in January 2007. Among them, 615,279 arrived at the Outer Harbour (+6.7%), with 60.4% from Hong Kong and 24.7% from Mainland China. Visitor arrivals at the Inner Harbour grew 14.6% to 40,000 and 49.9% were from Mainland China.
Visitor arrivals by land increased 31.3% to 1,275,756. The majority of these visitors came from Mainland China (75.2%) and Hong Kong (17.9%). Visitor arrivals through the Border Gate rose 31.2% to 1,275,615.
In addition, arrivals by air were 107,733, up 38.5% over January 2006, with 106,631 arriving at the Macao International Airport (+38.7%). Visitors from Taiwan, China (44.2%), Mainland China (21.9%) and South East Asia (19.2%) were the major users of this access.
