Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge May Take OVer 35 Years to Break Even

As reported by Blog Info, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge project may take 36-and-a-half years to break even, admitted the Governor of Guangdong Province.

Huang Huahua said in Beijing as a deputy to the National People’s Congress (NPC) that is currently being convened that the construction cost of the bridge may reach US$5.62 billion, while the ports and connection facilities will be assumed by the authorities of the three territories respectively.

That means vehicles leaving and entering the territories will receive immigration and customs inspections twice.

He also pointed out that the preliminary work of the project is undergoing ’smoothly’, with 21 out of 25 investigations topics completed.

Tendering will be issued once the rest of the investigations were completed, and the actual amount of investment could be confirmed by then.

Environmental impact assessment is in progress, and the taskforce is doing all it could to have it completed as soon as possible, he said.
