Hotel Okura to Open 5-Star Hotel in Galaxy Mega Resort

Galaxy Group Limited yesterday announced it had entered into an agreement with Hotel Okura Co., Ltd. Hotel Okura will open a 5-star hotel in the Galaxy Mega Resort located in , , scheduled for opening 2009. Galaxy finalised the agreement with Hotel Okura to manage, operate and market one of the three luxury hotels in the first phase development of its Galaxy Mega Resort, .

Hotel Okura operates hotels outside Japan including Amsterdam, Guam and China. It has recently expanded its joint marketing agreements to extend its service network with Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts and Taj Hotels and Palaces. In its overseas hotel operations, Hotel Okura has long focused its efforts on high growth Asian markets and its opening of a hotel in will further accelerate the Hotel Okura’s Asia strategy, a statement from the company said.

The Hotel Okura branded and managed hotel will have in excess of 400 rooms and suites. Hotel Okura will have complete management responsibility and operational control of the property. Hotel Okura will have its own exclusive Porte Cochere, lobby, fine dining restaurant, bar and executive lounge. Okura premium customers will have preferential access to the Galaxy casino and leisure facilities including one of the largest wave pools in the world, high-class restaurants, retail precincts and a range of exciting options.

Japan has a total population of 128 million people with over 17 million annual outbound travellers.

Phase one of the Galaxy Mega Resort which has the largest land bank in and currently under construction, will be the jewel in the crown of the Galaxy property stable. Galaxy will operate “Tower A” with 1,500 rooms, and Okura will manage one of two premium branded hotels in “Tower B” with an additional 1,000 rooms, all connected directly to the casino. As one of the largest in the world, the casino will have a capacity to accommodate up to 700 gaming tables and 3,000 slot machines. The mass gaming hall stretches the entire length of the casino at almost 300 meters (1,000 feet) long with 15 meter (50 feet) high ceilings and is lined with boundless retail delights, and restaurants.
