It doesnt get any bigger than Celine Dion. She’s been entertaining Vegas at Caesars for years, and now she has finally hit Macau’s Cotai Strip at the one and only Venetian Macao. The afterparty was almost as good as the actual event, as you can see from this Destination Macau video.

38,000 hotel rooms. 9,000 gaming tables. 25,000 slot machines. These are all huge and important figures, but we never hear about one of the most important metrics in Macau. From the terrace of my apartment on the 25th floor of One Grantai the whole of the Cotai Strip glitters below, from the subtle ochre shades of the Venetian Macao reflected in a huge lake, to the beckoning laser lights of Macau Studio City scorching across the night sky 1.3-km further down the Strip.

It has been a year of activity and inactivity, events and non-events, giddy successes and flops, and most of all, lessons on what to do or not to in Macau.Stanley Ho’s SJM unveiled its answer to the new operators, the Grand Lisboa, in February 2007. Then came Crown Macau in April 2007, the gargantuan Venetian Macao in September 2007, followed by MGM Grand Macau in December 2007, followed lastly by Stanley Ho’s Ponte 16 Casino on 1 February 2008.
Some readers have raised eyebrows on the lack of commentary on my part on the new SJM properties, saying that I focused purely on the new entrants to the market.

Macanese F3 driver Rodolfo Avila managed to get a podium result, finishing second in his first ever GT race weekend at Zhuhai International Circuit. The 21 years old driver was invited by Frestech FRD Team to drive one of the team’s Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge during the Asian GT Championship round of the Pan Delta Super Racing Festival (Spring Event).
