Growth of gaming industry a boon to real estate

Macau right now is already having a property development boom. Not so sure about winners though as the risk of over development is high. Macau went to a similar property boom and bust during the hand-over peroid. Agree or not, but the fact remains that prices are high and the quality is still not up to international standards.

Real estate development is the main beneficiary of phenomenal growth in Asia’s gaming industry and overall economic growth has followed, a property expert said this week.

“When it comes to gaming casinos, much has been said about winners and losers … but one winner that few would be willing to bet against is the real estate industry,” Barge said.

He said “casinos are a generator of tourism, tax and economic activity, all of which drive local real estate demand.”
